The Lochaber area in Scotland is a large rural part of the Scottish west Highlands. Lochaber welcomes vistors and travellers to the Highlands on the A82 by Rannoch Moor in the south; it stretches all the way to the sea coastline including Ardnamurchan and Mallaig in the west, and includes the historical area of Glen Spean in the north-east and of course the Great Glen in the north – on the way to Loch Ness.
Lochaber’s “capital” – the Highland town of Fort William sits at the head of Loch Linnhe and at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest and most popular mountain in the British Isles. This website provides information and links about local accommodation in the Fort William area including Fort William B&B, cottages and good hotels.
Fort William offers Jacobite steam train trips out to Mallaig, Gondala trips up Nevis Range, mountain biking, guided mountain walks up Ben Nevis, many outdoor activities such as watersports, hill walking and mountaineering, sailing and kayaking, wildlife boat trips and many well established annual events like the Ben Nevis Race, The SSDT, Highland Games and downhill UCI mountain biking competitions.
