A mention about your personal safety

Walking in the Scottish hills and mountains is hugely satisfying, but it also comes with a reasonable increase in risk to your own personal safety.  Scottish Mountains are dangerous places and so we urge you to take responsibility and plan a trip into the Scottish mountains before you show up.  Consider the weather conditions on the day of your planned trip, consider your personal clothing and your ability to navigate off the mountain safely if you realise things are changing for the worse.
Please also consider that the UK tax payer provides the helicopter rescue and subsequent NHS medical care if you are injud. Nothing is free!  The cost to operate the MSC helicopter is in excess of £45,000 an hour when it is in the air.
