Lochaber Pipe Band

Lochaber Schools' Pipe Band
The band was formed in the early 1970s as Lochaber Junior Pipe Band, becoming Lochaber High School Pipe Band in the late 1970s and is presently known as Lochaber Schools Pipe Band (LSPB). Although it has changed its name a couple of times, its aims and objectives have remained the same. The band has been educating and performing regularly for more than thirty years.

LSPB can vary in size from 25 to 35 members in any year. It’s membership consists of schoolchildren between the ages of 9 and 18 years of age within the Lochaber District. Membership and tuition are provided free of charge.

The band is a self funding group and relies on fundraising and donations to finance all band activities, uniforms and equipment.

LSPB is a well established part of the local community. It performs twice a week in Fort William throughout June, July and August. In addition, the band is invited to perform at local Highland games, charity events and gala days. Over the years, LSPB has been privileged to perform for members of the Royal family as well as thousands of visitors to Lochaber. Its activities have not been confined to Lochaber, indeed the band has performed in a variety of places including Edinburgh, London, Paris and Auckland.
