| Visiting yachts will find many safe anchorages around the
coast of Lochaber. In the south in Kentallen Bay and Loch Leven,
Loch Linnhe and Loch Eil provide options for anchoring or picking
up a visitor mooring. Corpach Harbour is a busy logging harbour
but the Basin in the Caledonian Canal provides space to tie up
alongside the pier, as do the pontoons at Banavie at the top of
Neptune's Staircase locks.
Lochaber Yacht Club and the local Moorings Association at Fort
William provide a visitor mooring which can be secured on arrival
if available.
Loch Aline in the Sound of Mull provides
sheltered anchorages as does Loch Sunart. On the Isle of Mull,
Tobermory is a "must visit" place.
At Arisaig a Marina made up of standing moorings for overnight
stays, with pontoons for loading/refueling is available. Mallaig
has a traditional harbour which is quite busy with CalMac ferries
and fishing boats coming and going all the time. Loch Nevis and
Loch Hourn have some great places to safely anchor and visit ashore.
We will develop this page with details for 2005 facilities as soon
as we can.
