| Invergarry is 24 miles north of Fort William on the Inverness road in
the Great Glen. The village lies around the junction with the A887 and A82
trunk roads. Loch Oich, a part of the Caledonian Canal lies to the east.
Glengarry Castle Hotel enjoys a superb location amongst mature beech woodland
and views of the Loch. Invergarry Castle Ruin sits in the grounds of the hotel
and like most Highland castles, has a turbulent history. A local charity is busy
fund raising to secure the remains of the building for the future, so if you'd
like to help get in touch with the hotel.
The area used to produce pig iron in a foundry using locally made charcoal. The
village hall has lots of information about the past as well as details of walks
and cycle routes.
