Fishing in Fort William and Lochaber
One has only to look at a map of Lochaber to see there's an awful lot of water about, and whether it's sea or fresh water, it's clean, very clean and the habitat of excellent quality safe to eat fish. With miles of coastline and hundreds of lochs and rivers, Lochaber is a paradise for any angler, offering sports fishing as good as it gets anywhere in Scotland.

A vast amount of fishing, but not all, is available by generally inexpensive day or weekly permits which are available local to the particular fishing location and this invariably is the tackle shop or estate office. Some hotels may be able to arrange permits for you, given enough time. Local tackle shops are usually the best bet for advice and local experience, a valuable tool in any fishing situation.

One particular local company 'Fishing Scotland' has established a repution for excellent instruction in fly fishing and also a great day out - click the link to find out more...

Another opportunity to try fly fishing is at Great Glen Chalets, just north of Fort William at Torlundy. Custom built trout ponds provide good sport and family fun - with a great view of Ben Nevis thrown in at no extra charge.

At Spean Bridge TIC Fishing Scotland operate a Tackle Shop from their premises - with expert advice at no extra cost - t: 01397 712 999!
