Lochaber Dives

Loch Eil Drift Dive
North West of Fort William there is a superb drift dive between Loch Eil and Loch Linnhe. This dive if done at the right state of the tide can travel somewhere in the region of 5 knotts. It is great fun and remains at a fairly constant depth throughout. You can access this dive from Linnhe Caravan Park just outside Corpach but by far the best safest option is to hire a rib from The Underwater Centre, located very nearby.

Linnhe Point Shore Dive
South of Fort William by road there is a nice accessible Shore Dive at Linnhe Point. This is a nice Scottish Trust car park where you can park you car close to the waters edge.
Check the direction of the tide before entry then dive around the rocky outcrop at the head of the car park. Underwater here you have a great split level wall dive with plenty to see in the way of marine life. Follow the current for the most relaxing dive.

Wall Dive
Further South still from Fort William, take the turning for Bail’ur before crossing the Ballachulish Bridge. Either take your car to the slipway which you can see from the bridge itself (not the best option). Or follow the road to the Loch Leven Hotel (‘check first’ use their car park and pop in for a pint after your dive) There is a superb finger reef which forms the shelter for boats moored in ‘Bishops Bay’ this is a nice drifting wall dive lots to see, plenty of marine life, different kelp and some unexpected things from the hotel. Be aware that the current here can be very strong, watch the tides!!

Loch Aline Shore Dive
South from Fort William and across Loch Linnhe on the Corran Ferry there is a very nice shore dive at the Pier at Loch Aline.

Sound of Mull Boat Dive
Also at Loch Aline is Loch Aline Water sports who have some very nice boats and are a great base for diving out in The Sound of Mull.
Here you can find some of Scotland’s most famous ship wrecks for all abilities of divers. There is The Hispania, The Thesis, The Rhonda and The Breda to name the more famous.
