Appin is an area in the south-west of Lochaber but is part
of the region of Argyll. This area has an interesting history with
the Stewarts of Appin, dasturdly murders and smuggling
in
the 17th century.
Port Appin is a beautiful spot with a short ferry over to the Isle
of Lismore - a pastoral peaceful island. Appin is
on the way to Oban which provides a pleasant scenic coastal route
into north Argyll. There are some good restaurants, places to
stay and a garden centre in the Appin area.
